Red Cabbage Recipe

The red cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata f. rubra) is a sort of cabbage, also known as purple cabbage, red kraut, or blue kraut after preparation. In this article we learn how to prepare red cabbage. To prepare 3 servings of red cabbage we will need the following ingredients:-

  • ½ small head red cabbage, grated or finely shredded.
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • Dash of salt.

How to prepare the red cabbage
  • Add cabbage to warm oil in skillet.
  • Stir in other ingredients; cover.
  • Steam covered over low heat about 10 minutes; turn off heat; let stand 5 minutes. Do not lift lid until ready to serve.
  • Serve as hot vegetable or cold salad, plain or with an accompaniment of roasted chestnuts, Chinese cooked Peanuts, or Peanuts in  the Shell.
